Friday Hunt v2.14

Welcome back for Friday’s Hunt v2.14! Thank you again to Teresa at Eden Hills for hosting.  This week for prompts, we have the Letter N, Weeks Favorite, and I Made This.

For the Letter N, I have this group.

Yeah, this is the Naughty group. Mostly JD is naughty, he pushed the gate open while I was at the Iowa State Football game and let everyone out. The goats promptly marched to the hay field. JD ran like a maniac around the yard. The 3 horses? Well, they made it clear through town and went to visit some old friends. First, I got a panicked call from Landon. Everything is out and running everywhere. Once I got him to explain that not exactly ‘everything’ is out, just the ones in the big pasture, I had him start catching the goats. I called a friend of mine to come help him and locate the horses, since Landon didn’t see them anywhere. I then got a call from a friend across town. The horses had obviously followed Chrome to her house and were shut in a pen there. Katie and Landon were able to go get them and had everyone shut back in the lot in about an hour. Good grief.

My Weeks Favorite is this silly caterpillar I found at Mom’s. It was just an unusual to see such a bright orange little guy.

For I made this, there was a crafting party a couple weeks ago and we decided to go with fall decorations.

Started with a pile of lathe and a round piece of wood and some twine. Throw in some paint and a couple types of glue. I ended up with this.

Yeah, I love these parties. I would never have come up with this on my own. I love making things, but lack the creative mind. This is a great way for people like me to get to make somethings for my self. My friend that puts these on brings the idea and all the supplies and we start out and nothing ends up the same once everyone start adding their own little things. It really makes a fun afternoon.

I won a drawing and picked the big pumpkin to go with my little one! I just think they are adorable.

Thanks for joining me again, and if you are in the area, don’t forget the Pumpkin Patch at Eden Hills is open all weekend. If you aren’t close enough to join the fun there, you can always check out the other Friday’s Hunt just by visiting Eden Hills. Have a great weekend!

Just some of the critters

I got home the other day and wandering around checking on everyone, so here is a few pictures of some of my loves.

Bluebell(I think Madelyn is going to call her Jewel) and Jersey

I got a new hutch from Sister. It’s big. I can’t move it by myself. So it is currently in the middle of my driveway. But I wanted to clean up cages and sanitize so I moved a few buns to the driveway.

Jelly and Peanut Butter hiding in the back.

They were all hopping and jumping and having a ball. Jelly is making sure I don’t have any treats for her!

Bugs is never very active, but he was hopping around enjoying the space and beautiful day.

George is the reason I brought a few of them out. He runs laps in his cage, so I thought maybe he could use some exercise.

Wynona, Ransom, Wynn and Zulu

I brought the ‘branch’ from Mom’s house and gave it the boer goats as a treat. They loved it.

The horses are out grazing and the big girls and JD are thinking it is totally unfair I let the little goats have a treat and didn’t bring them one.

Friday’s Hunt 2.9

Welcome back for another version of Friday’s Hunt! Thanks again to Teresa at Eden Hills for hosting. This week our prompts are Starts with J, Week’s Favorite, and Surprise.

Starts with J is JD, again. He’s such a goof most of the time. I need to brush him and clean him up, but I still think he’s a pretty good looking boy.

My Weeks Favorite is of the Cross Country team huddled before they run. This is an amazing group of girls and I am proud that my daughter gets to be a member.

Surprise! What are you doing up there? Indi made me angry by getting out, again. Not in the hay field but was trying to get to JD’s food. Which, he needs to eat all of so I can make sure that he isn’t off feed, but also I put an extra protein that is for cattle (NOT GOATS INDI!). So she went into goaty jail for a little bit. She was not happy. Someday, maybe she will learn.

Thank you for joining me again for another weeks Friday’s Hunt! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Just another Tuesday

Well my morning didn’t start out the way I thought it should. JD went a visiting again.

Not a sight that makes me happy

This time he head butted the water tub I was using to keep his hay dry into the electric fence. Guess I will take those out.

I checked on Gina, she is due any day, I think we might be in luck!

Pulling fur is a good nesting sign

No one else is showing any signs of expecting. I am a little frustrated with that.

Then I took a walk to check on flowers and the garden and the rain gauge. We got 0.5″ this round, with more expected tomorrow.

Radishes, Beets, and Kale
Baby Peas!
Landon’s Popcorn Patch
Onions with Cabbage, and Broccoli in the background.
Strawberry Patch (rabbit poop did them well!)
Finally! A potato plant coming through.

I also wanted to check on the containers I planted on Sunday.

My water tank.
Old Chicken Feeder, have to add a few more, just not sure what yet.
There is a bucket under there.
Old water kettle.

Over all, I think the amount of rain has been good for what is growing so far. I hope we don’t see the severe weather they are talking about for Wednesday.

Mothers Day

Mom went to spend Mothers Day with her Mom. Grandma is 95 so it’s good for her spend time with her. Since she was gone we spent the day at home. Hubby had to work most of the day so it was just me and the kids.

I am sure they thought they could just relax, since it is a ‘holiday’! HAHA! I had other plans. We did laundry, cleaned and worked outside.

Putting up pole bean fence
Setting posts
Hoeing a row, while brother impatiently waits for him to play
Planting pole beans

This Landon’s 4-H garden. His popcorn is up already. Today he planted his pole beans, bush beans, carrots and lettuce.

Trying to take pictures of the horses and about to be attacked!

I think I have a cow horse.

Chevy after JD
These two play constantly.

I even got to man the grill since Hubby was gone.

Parmesan Shrimp Sirloin, cheesy hashbrowns and mushrooms, and JimBob’s most excellent baked beans.

I didn’t do to bad, we were all stuffed. Even sent some to Hubby at work. I did get one beautiful gift that Denton was pretty proud of.

He brought this home from school for me along with a card about me. I think these are the best kinds of gifts. I don’t need fancy expensive things. A day spent with the people who made me a mom is the best gift I could possibly receive.

Friday’s Hunt v1.19

This week for Friday’s Hunt our prompts are the Letter S, Weeks Favorite, and Smile. It has been a busy, beautiful week and I have gotten a bunch of things done! I think the animals are fairly happy with some of the progress.

For the Letter S there is Scarlett.

I love this lady. She came to us from our wonderful host of Friday’s Hunt at Eden Hills as a bottle kid 3 years ago. Landon raised her and showed her as a bottle kid at the 4-H fair. She can be the sweetest girl, but she is also the herd queen so has her bossy moments. Last year she had twins, Herbert and Janet. I am hoping for twins again because she is such an excellent mother. Maybe this year she could have red with spots? Just saying that would be nice Scarlett!

For Weeks Favorite, I was taking a walk through the pasture to see why my electric fence wasn’t working. JD of course followed me. I think I found out why he bellers all the time. He wants me to be out there with him. As long as I am a few feet from him, he is very quite. Anyway, when I turned to head back to the house, I looked over my shoulder to see where he was (read-make sure he wasn’t running up behind me to head butt me) I realized he watching next door. Neighbor farmer spent most of the day hauling cows and calves to pasture and they were running around across the hay field. How beautiful JD looked in the setting sun.

Watching wistfully

I love sitting down at the end of the day and watching the animals browse around and enjoy their life. Nothing makes me smile more than watching them all be quiet and content.

Horses and goats happy

I love the view from my back yard.

Thank you for joining me again for Friday’s Hunt. If you would like to check out more of Friday’s Hunt, visit Teresa at Eden Hills.

Doing more Redoing

So it was gorgeous again yesterday and today. I was at it again. Since I only have so much time to use the borrowed tools, I wanted to get everything done I needed to do with them.

I got both wooden posts set and all the t posts pulled and panels taken down.

What is this?

We don’t generally keep geese, and we aren’t keeping these guys either. I think the parents are confused. They got themselves in a corner and could not seem to figure out a way through. I shut the dogs up, and herded them back out into the empty yard. They continued on through the front yard.

They headed out in the street! Luckily that guy in the truck just happened to be Hubby. He saw them and me and stopped to let them pass. I think the parents are a little confused. Not sure they no where they are going!

Of course I did have some help with most of my jobs.

JD the very useful calf.

I didn’t get a picture of him while he was standing right where I was working because I was chasing him out of the way. But I did have to laugh at him. Cattle love to reach through fences.

The grass is obviously better on the other side.

Even though this is what is on the other side of him.

I think there is enough grass for one calf in the pasture. But he tends to be a typical difficult calf.

Dang it. I guess it is finally time to get out a new pair of gloves. Maybe it’s time I let these two pairs go?

My daughter thinks I have a problem.

The dogs were also a big help today.

If taking breaks and laying around are considered help!

Piper went to the vet again yesterday to finish up her puppy shots. She is now 37.1 pounds and has her very own rabies ID tag. She did a lot better riding in the truck, but still wants to lay on my lap, which isn’t going to work much longer! Her personality is so sweet and I love her just a little more each day.

My day yesterday ended with 2 baseball games watching my two favorite players

Denton’s PeeWee team won their game.
Landon’s Minor team won their game also!

It was actually a little chilly to sit out in the wind and watch baseball, but the boys were excited and had a great time, so that makes it worth it.
