I was trying to get some new pictures of Chevy since he is growing in his darker fall coat. He’s grown a lot over the summer. The only problem is he’s kind of overly friendly and really wants to see what I am doing, or what I have in my hand. This is what I got.
So not exactly what I wanted but I at least have a few pictures that show his size and color and markings and that his hip is higher than his shoulder so he is growing again. I think I will probably have to get some help next time!
Welcome back for Friday’s Hunt v2.14! Thank you again to Teresa at Eden Hills for hosting. This week for prompts, we have the Letter N, Weeks Favorite, and I Made This.
For the Letter N, I have this group.
Yeah, this is the Naughty group. Mostly JD is naughty, he pushed the gate open while I was at the Iowa State Football game and let everyone out. The goats promptly marched to the hay field. JD ran like a maniac around the yard. The 3 horses? Well, they made it clear through town and went to visit some old friends. First, I got a panicked call from Landon. Everything is out and running everywhere. Once I got him to explain that not exactly ‘everything’ is out, just the ones in the big pasture, I had him start catching the goats. I called a friend of mine to come help him and locate the horses, since Landon didn’t see them anywhere. I then got a call from a friend across town. The horses had obviously followed Chrome to her house and were shut in a pen there. Katie and Landon were able to go get them and had everyone shut back in the lot in about an hour. Good grief.
My Weeks Favoriteis this silly caterpillar I found at Mom’s. It was just an unusual to see such a bright orange little guy.
For I made this, there was a crafting party a couple weeks ago and we decided to go with fall decorations.
Started with a pile of lathe and a round piece of wood and some twine. Throw in some paint and a couple types of glue. I ended up with this.
Yeah, I love these parties. I would never have come up with this on my own. I love making things, but lack the creative mind. This is a great way for people like me to get to make somethings for my self. My friend that puts these on brings the idea and all the supplies and we start out and nothing ends up the same once everyone start adding their own little things. It really makes a fun afternoon.
I won a drawing and picked the big pumpkin to go with my little one! I just think they are adorable.
Thanks for joining me again, and if you are in the area, don’t forget the Pumpkin Patch at Eden Hills is open all weekend. If you aren’t close enough to join the fun there, you can always check out the other Friday’s Hunt just by visiting Eden Hills. Have a great weekend!
I got home the other night and notice my boys were feeling frisky. They were running around the pasture so I went to grab the camera.
Chevy is a baby so it isn’t really surprising to see him acting ornery and full of it.
This caught me a little off guard! Chrome is an old man. Seeing him play and feel good makes me so happy. I think Chevy might be good for Chrome. He rarely get more than one foot off the ground at a time without tripping. I am feeling like that might just be laziness!
Off they ran again. I lost them over the hill. They are so fun to watch and beautiful when they play! Hopefully Chrome doesn’t pull a muscle.
Welcome back for another version of Friday’s Hunt, hosted by my dear friend Teresa at Eden Hills. Don’t forget that the Pumpkin Patch is open! For more information or directions please go to Eden Hills Market. It’s really a fun time for young and old alike. Hopefully this rainy weather we have been experiencing will clear up. Back to this weeks prompts, we have the Letter M, Weeks Favorite, Work.
Letter M this time is for Maternity. Again. Yes Rio is pregnant again! I am going to be over run with guinea pigs! I was slow to put the first litter up for sale because, #1 I wanted the kids to play with them because they were cute and fun, and #2 I am terrible at sexing baby guinea pigs. Well, she is going to have more, I would say shortly.
This Week’s Favoriteis probably my favorite view in the world. Yup, just the back of my horses head. It means we went riding finally! He was pretty pumped to be out and full of energy. But it, to me is more relaxing than anything else and is definitely my happy place!
My Work this week consisted of this field. Early in the week we had beautiful drying weather and this hay turned out really good. We square baled a little over half of it and got 798 bales. I have to admit, I love raking hay. It’s so beautiful when you are done. I also love square baling. Especially being on the rack. Learning to stack them correctly and being able to do it is something I really enjoy. But I love work that you can see the progress also. You start with a field of hay mowed, by the time you are done, you have a barn full. It’s just beautiful.
Thank you for joining me for another week! I hope you all enjoy your weekend!
Sometimes I think today actually competes with Christmas. Yes it is that time of year! THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!
Their faces basically say it all! I already picked up Madelyn and Niece#2 earlier when they were done with tests. We had a picnic since it was beautiful and this is going to have be our new tradition!
Of course the pool had to filled because it summer now. Neighbor kids came over and an epic water fight ensued.
Piper even got in on the fun. I think she likes the pool, and I hope she will continue to use it through the summer.
Meanwhile, I working on the barn and garden before the next round of storms head in.
I got the middle cleaned out so I can start on the pens!
I got the girls pen cleaned out today. They are so content. It is really a rough life to lay down, eat, drink, start over.
Oh yummy! After I got done with their pen, I picked up a bunch of leaves that blew down last night. The goats all got some, but most ate them so fast I basically took a bunch of pictures of them eating my hand!
All the bedding/hay and straw that was left behind by the goats and rabbits has made its way to the garden. This is how I mulched my garden last year. It sure works good and helps use up some of the hay they waste while benefitting the garden!
I planted the pumpkins, cucumbers, and zucchini today. I planted them around tomato cages that I am not going to be using. I am hoping to train them up the cages. I have no idea if it will work or not, but I thought it was worth a try. I put fresh saw dust right around the plants in case there was to much manure in the bedding. It should be all mulched by the time I am done with the other kidding pen and the dog pen, which is completely full of hay chaff.
I also weeded the rhubarb, asparagus, iris and apparently raspberry patch!
About 3 years ago, a friend of mine that lives in Michigan, brought me a couple starts from his wild raspberries. I didn’t honestly think in the mess of weeds that they had survived. Turns out they did, and they seem to be thriving. I am very excited to see them!
Back in the barn, the bunnies are all opening their eyes and getting their ears up. The kids are wanting to hold them regularly. The only minor problem with that is Gina is a little protective and really doesn’t anyone messing with them.
This is why I never throw things away. I went to the scrap pile and found a piece that fit almost perfectly. I had to take off a half inch on one side. Then because I was using screws I already had I had to attach a chunk of 1 x 1 to make sure the screws were not exposed. I then found some tiny wood staples so that I could attach a piece of twine to so that it could be opened and closed without sticking your hand in the hutch. It works pretty good and causes Gina less stress!
These three goofs came running in to see what was making all the noise. Or maybe they thought they needed treats too? Who knows.
I worked on weeding the peas and pulling more radishes until the clouds started rolling in about 7. I stayed until the sprinkles started. Hopefully everyone is staying safe. We had some strong winds north of us last night, but still nothing like way south of us in Kansas and Oklahoma.
Hope you all enjoyed your day wherever you may be, I know I sure did.
It’s time again for Friday’s Hunt, even though I have waited until almost the end of Sunday. It has been so beautiful out I didn’t want to sit on the computer! I am going to do this quick and head back out. This might have been the most beautiful 2 days I can remember!
Ok, but back to the hunt! This weeks prompts are Starts with U, Weeks Favorite, and In the Morning.
Starts with U makes me think of Udder. I am so excited for babies out these girls! This is Button. I am so very excited to see what she has! I am also pretty pleased with the udders she and Indi have! They are looking very good!
My Weeks Favorite is of Chrome and Madelyn. I know he is old but then I see him coming down the road with this spring in his step and I just think he is gorgeous! Her smile basically sums up the happiness in this weeks favorite.
In the Morning. I have been working this week on finding and/or replacing my bird feeders.
You may wonder what in the world this has to do with morning? I love having bird feeders because I get to watch my beautiful visitors in the Morning!
This oriole has been here every morning! We had a hummingbird visitor this morning but I wasn’t fast enough with my camera! I love when the birds come and I can have the windows open and listen to their singing.
Please feel free to stop over at Eden Hills and see everyone’s Friday’s Hunts. They are always so creative!
