I did so good the first year of blogging keeping up with things and posting everyday. Lately though, I feel like I barely sit down and if I do, I don’t sit down with my computer. Then my computer got sick. I mean some kind of crazy virus that didn’t allow us to log in. My boys freaked out. I had no idea what to do. Thankfully my youngest Denton found what is called a FIXME STICK. It plugs into to your USB port and then cleans your computer. Again, thankfully, it worked! We can now log in and use the computer. So here is a little bit of an update about what has been going on.
So that pretty much gets us through the month of June. It’s been busy and I hope I have a chance to get back on here again before July is over, but if not, be well and enjoy the beauty that is all around you!
Well, I had big plans for the weekend. They mostly consisted of tilling my garden, planting as much as physically possible and mowing. But the torrential rain we got Saturday about noon really set me back. No tilling meant no gardening. I did finally get most of my mowing done. But, since I couldn’t do what I wanted I found other ways to keep busy!
Started to morning by banding all the boys, goats and sheep, and giving them their second CDT shot.
Once we got that done I ran to town for some groceries. I was still planning on tilling the garden about 1. Then the rain came. Hard fast moving rain that dumped about .9″ on us. Gee just when my garden was almost dry enough to work in. Sigh.
After some minimal pouting, I turned around and this. How can you be upset about rain when there is beauty like this behind you?
So I brushed these guys out and double checked new tattoos and nails and switch them to the outside pens. Then I kind of wandered and checked everything out.
Much to my surprise the pigeons have started laying eggs! We got two, but one had a tiny crack. They are so cute.
Madelyn had gone camping with some friends, so the boys and I decided we should have our own adventure. We sent to Buffalo Wild Wings and ate, which was probably enough excitement for the day to them. Then we head on west of Ames to the Ledges State Park near Boone. They weren’t sure what to expect. At first, I think they were fairly convinced that they were going on an adventure like we do at Mom’s house. With creeks and ravines and some trees. They like those adventures, sure, but I think they were hoping for something new.
They thought it was very beautiful walking through and finding stairs. They were sure by this point that we had seen the ‘ledges’ that were actually just little ravines.
His face when he actually saw the Ledges, completely priceless!
The excitement level ramped up a bit here. While we still had to hike a ways, they couldn’t wait to see what it actually was like down there!
It was beautiful. I had driven here before but never taken the time to walk around. It was beautiful and a perfect day.
Of course they had to get in the water and played and explored here for about an hour.
The swallows nest along the ledge are crazy. It looks like they barely fit.
They were very excited to get to the top and see what was up there. Ended up mostly trees, but there were some beautiful sights on the way.
Over all it was a great afternoon together. We finished by heading through Dairy Queen for a smoothie and headed home to clean up and relax. Which is when I finally got the mowing done.
Started bright and early at the Rhodes Fire Department Annual Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast! Yum! Then I had to go to town for our business to get everything finalized for the Rhodes Memorial Day celebration. Then we got ready and headed to Collins to meet at the cemetery for the event there. I missed taking a picture of the awesome fly over a local pilot does! It was very cool and I got caught watching!
Then after we all ate dinner at the bar in Rhodes with the local legion, we all headed back to mom’s for our family fun! Started by getting supper ready and cooking and then headed out for an pasture adventure.
Just missing Niece#1, Niece#5, BigNephew, Sisinlaw and Brother, but quite the crew. My heart is full. After a Creek long adventure, we headed back to check food and play our usual game of kickball! No serious injuries, but Sister did come out of retirement and she might be a little sore today!
We celebrated Niece#3’s birthday and had way to much food and a lot of loud discussions, but there is no where I would rather be!
Thank you to everyone who has and will serve for this blessed life and beautiful country I get to call home. Freedom is not Free.
Since I have not been sitting down at my computer, or even really carrying my phone or camera with me like I should, I haven’t been keeping up with my Friday’s Hunts. So I will try to catch up a little.
Going all the way back to Friday’s Hunt v3.2. Our prompts are the Letter B and Creature. (I am going to leave out Week’s Favorite because well…let’s be honest, I haven’t been taking many pictures)
Broken Barn! I love my broken down barn. I spend a lot of time in it and while who wouldn’t love a shiny new barn, I will stick with my broken barn for now.
This creature has completely stolen my heart and my chair. Tuxedo is really settling into life here and becoming an ornery beloved member of the family.
Friday’s Hunt v3.3
This Crazy kid? I came in the house from doing chores and here he is, sitting on the couch watching his show in this tub. It’s supposed to be full of toys. I wonder where they could be?
How is this? These two played together one chilly afternoon when Miss Bailee came to visit. She sat like this a long time watching Tux.
Friday’s Hunt v3.4
Well, these two lazy dogs aren’t doing much this winter. They mostly lay on their pillows and sleep. They can’t be outside long with their short coats. They are loving these warmer days we have been having and going for long walks with me.
Honestly I have taken a lot of pictures of Tux this winter. He’s so darn cute and always on my lap.
Friday’s Hunt v3.5
Edible. I have been trying out some new things lately. One of them is Spaghetti Squash. It was actually really good!
I have started a new personal journey this winter. I want to lose some weight. So I guess I can share here parts of my journey. We will see how it goes.
Friday’s Hunt v3.6
We had fun celebrating and help raise money for a dear friend of ours from town who has recently fallen very ill and can no longer work. She is one of the sweetest ladies and it was apparent from the turnout.
No matter how many critters I end up with around this funny farm, these three are my whole heart! Their laughter and smiles bring sunshine to every single day.
Friday’s Hunt v3.7
Goats. They are getting some wonderful sun this last week.
I guess I don’t have a lot of pictures with pink in it. This one will have to do for now!
Well, this should catch me up until next week! Hope to see you then!
You may have noticed that I didn’t get to my last weeks Friday’s hunt! Again! I really need to do a better job at getting these ready ahead of time. Ugh. But I don’t want to completely miss one, so I am putting 2 together! So for last week we have the Letter R, Weeks Favorite, and Black or Orange. For this week our prompts are the Letter S, Weeks Favorite, and Amazing.
The Letter R is for Rambunctious, which is what these guys certainly are! I am so happy I took the day and spent with them. It won’t be long until they are too busy, too old, too something that they don’t want to go places with me. The fact that I get to spend as much time with my nieces and nephews, and my kids get to play with their cousins on a regular basis is one of my greatest blessings. They say your cousins and siblings are your first best friends, hopefully the relationship these three have lasts a lifetime.
My Weeks Favoriteis this one. Can you believe this was 2 days before Halloween and we are in t-shirts?! It was a great day, spent with great kids, at a great place.
This is for Black or Orange, although I think it can be Black and Orange. The boys and I took a trip out to Eden Hills Pumpkin Patch and picked the perfect pumpkins. We thought they looked pretty good after we had them caved and the seeds were delicious!
For Letter S I love this Sunset over the beans. Maybe it’s just because I have been out watching so many sunrises and sunsets but they seem especially beautiful to me this year.
This Weeks Favoriteis my little herd of young goats and Piper. Piper spends most of her time with these guys. She does such a good job watching over them. She loves her goats. Now I just have to get the older girls to love her.
The scenery I spend my days in is Amazing. There is so much I see everyday and think isn’t that beautiful! I try to enjoy it every single day. I can’t imagine spending my days anywhere else.
Thank you for joining me for another week! I hope you are getting out and enjoying this amazing weather we are having! If you have a chance, don’t forget you can visit all the contributors to Friday’s Hunt by stopping by Eden Hills.
Brother asked me to check the South Farm fence. Since there was nothing else real pressing to get to, I took the dogs.
I took all three. One baled out before I got the tailgate down. She was a little excited. The other two just stood there like come on, let us out!
Oh happy dogs! They just love adventures. I planned to just walked the perimeter. They ran an extra couple miles, just checking things out.
We found a place where deer had been bedding down.
The fall weeds are blooming. We came across these little yellow ball flowers.
They are actually very pretty up close!
With as many pictures as I take of pretty weeds, I really should start learning the names of them.
These little white ones were super tiny! But up close they were cute!
They were so small. About half the size of my pinky nail.
And yet another one. The pasture was full of pretty flowering plants. It was also full of other things.
While the webs are pretty cool, they were everywhere! Of course there haven’t been any cows in this pasture recently, so they have had the run of the long grass. My kids would have been having a fit. I thought it was awesome to watch them drop out of sight at the first movement of the grass around their web.
The dogs were just happy to running and jumping and playing and exploring all the smells.
Nala wanders off alone a lot, but she always finds us.
Bo exhausts himself doing the boxer bounce through all the tall grass and eventually ends up following me in my path so closely he trips me up.
Piper is uncoordinated and ends up lagging behind. But she seems pretty happy to lope along at her own pace.
Worst thing about walking a pasture in the fall? Burrs. I swear every plant out there has burrs on them. I still don’t have them all off my tank top. I may just give up and throw it away. I don’t love burrs.
By the time I got to the top of the hill where we left the truck, the dogs had given up on me all ready.
They were ready to go take a nap for the rest of the day.
Welcome back for another Friday’s Hunt. This week has flown by with the start of school and sports and, well you know, life! This week we have Starts with I, Weeks Favorite, and Pink.
I have Intruderfor Starts with I. Yeah, I don’t think the guinea pigs are very happy about this situation. Bullseye doesn’t bother them though, he just likes to find the most unusual comfy spot to curl up in. This is may not be his best choice to date.
This is not the first time I have caught him in here. I am betting it won’t be the last time either!
For my Weeks Favorite, how can I leave this out.
I always end up looking forward to the first day of school. After roughly July, we are so out of whack, no routine, no schedule, ugh! I can barely keep track of the days. School gets us back on track and life back in order. I am not sure they completely agree. But these three make up the reason I get up each day and do the things I do. I could not love them more and wish them the best year. Although if time wanted to slow down it sure could, where have my babies gone?
I wasn’t finding anything Pink. But then it came across Facebook that yesterday was apparently National Dog Day, and on my Timehop that reminds me what I was doing today the last however many years showed this picture of Koda and I on our very last pasture adventure before he got really sick. I guess it was meant to be that I share with you his happy pink tongue. I miss this guy every day. I miss the look in his eyes of total love and admiration and trust. I like the dogs we have, but this old boy will hold a very special place in my heart forever. So Happy National Dog Day Buddy.
Thanks for joining me for another weeks Friday Hunt. Thank you to Teresa of Eden Hills for hosting. Don’t forget to click on the link and check out some of the other participants blogs. Hope you all have a great weekend and if you live around me, stay dry!
