Just a little bit of everything

I did so good the first year of blogging keeping up with things and posting everyday. Lately though, I feel like I barely sit down and if I do, I don’t sit down with my computer. Then my computer got sick. I mean some kind of crazy virus that didn’t allow us to log in. My boys freaked out. I had no idea what to do. Thankfully my youngest Denton found what is called a FIXME STICK. It plugs into to your USB port and then cleans your computer. Again, thankfully, it worked! We can now log in and use the computer.  So here is a little bit of an update about what has been going on.

Town Celebration have started! Rose Festival Parade in State Center.
Thanks to Squeaker for having 5 more babies! They are growing and adorable, but need to find new homes. Soon.
We have been getting everyone out regularly to exercise and eat grass.
Thank heavens we didn’t get all the stupid Musk thistles last year. I was worried we wouldn’t have anything to do.
Raspberries have gotten ripe with all the heat and rain in early June.
Speaking of rain, got caught on a walk and was waiting for it to stop. So took a couple pictures of the beautiful drops.
Dolly was indeed bred. She had one large buck, our last Blaze baby.
And just duplicated herself. Seriously, they are identical.
Took Piper with me for company one day. She loves exploring and was exhausted by the time we were done.
I took Landon for company too. But I made him work. He’s pretty good help when he isn’t complaining.
I have seen more wild life this year than any I can remember. Baby deer, big deer, pheasants, turkeys, coyotes, wide variety of birds, and even a few babies!
I love these flowers. Instead of trying to take mom flowers that have wilted by the time I get back to her, I send her pictures of her bouquet.
Another cool nest we found another day. Couldn’t believe how neat the nest was wound onto the plant.
The garden is growing, but so are the weeds. Grrr…
Our Wednesday nights are busy with Guinea Pig Agility classes…
and Rabbit Hopping. This is not hopping so much as breaking. Miss Kitty lays out like this when she has had enough!
The kids are busy training their animals for fair. Raider the lamb is not loving his halter!
Our 8th annual Petting Farm at Collins Days Celebration. The 4-H kids did a wonderful job with their animals and posters for it!
There were a bunch of pictures of the parade, but here is our new sign for the club carried by two of our members. I truly love these kids and what they do.
Finally, I took Landon last Sunday and dropped him of at his Naval League Cadet Corp Basic Training Orientation. For a WEEK. No phone calls, no letters, no contact, unless there is a medical emergency. Since we are about half way through Friday and his graduation is Saturday at 0930, I assume he has made it through. I have missed him terribly and can’t wait to see him and hear all about it. I am so proud of him but this mommy likes having her kiddos at home with her!

So that pretty much gets us through the month of June. It’s been busy and I hope I have a chance to get back on here again before July is over, but if not, be well and enjoy the beauty that is all around you!

Friday’s Hunt v3.9, v3.10 and v3.11

I am still doing so well at keeping up! I really planned on getting some pictures taken while it was nice out. But then I got busy cleaning out pens and trying to get feet trimmed and just didn’t. So here is v3.9 with the prompts Letter I, Weeks Favorite, and Nose.

Well there is always Indi. She is due here in the next couple weeks. I really thought that she had been breed and was due the 9th. But, obviously not. So hopefully she has some babies soon, since we are leaving for vacation the 21st. She will be moving to Sisters this weekend either way.

My Weeks Favorite from that week is this one from Denton’s Birthday gathering. They get so excited about Gramma’s red cake!

This guy is always nosing his way into everything. Even though this picture was taken back in the fall, he constantly poking his nose around. I love him for it. I hope this means he will be curious and go everywhere!

The next week, for v3.10 our prompts were the Letter J, Weeks Favorite and Birds or Wings.

The letter J is for me. Just Jennifer. Not very exciting but hey, it’s the letter J!

My Week’s Favorite is this one of the baby guinea pigs. They are so stinking cute and fun to play with. I think the kids finally decided on names for everyone. The redish and brown one on the left is Skipper, next to him(kind of blurry) is Slade, who Madelyn thinks she would like to keep. Then the mostly white one in front is Saber and Denton has taken him as the one he wants to keep. In the back the mostly brown one, our only female(I think) is Sinnamon. That one Landon has picked as his. Normally I wouldn’t even consider keeping any more, but due to Gizmo’s injuries I don’t think he will be able to do any guinea pig agility at the fair. Yes, it is a real thing and now a class!! I can’t wait because I think it is going to be hilarious! Squeaker is Gizmo’s companion and I don’t know what to do about the having babies until I figure out for sure who is boys and who is girls. So for now we are keeping a few of these guys to take to the fair.

I think she loves her birds. This will probably be one of my all time favorite pictures of Niece#5 and her chickens!

Now we are finally to v3.11 for this week. Our prompts are the Letter K, Weeks Favorite and Drink.

Letter K…Kids. I know there are kids coming. I am starting to worry about when. I was really hoping the kids would be on the ground before we leave. Now that is got cold again, I am not wanting them to come now because of that. However, I feel bad taking them to Sister’s house and making them do all night barn checks while I am on vacation. However, at some point, there will be kids.

This Week’s Favorite is Niece#4 and Miss Kitty the rabbit learning to bunny hop! Miss Kitty is our new lionhead bunny and full of spunk and sass. I am really enjoying these new additions. We also got a blue lionhead buck, but he couldn’t go to bunny hopping due to Denton being sick. Hopefully next time they can both go. Niece#4 is doing really well with her bunny and looking forward to taking her guinea pig Cocoa (Squeakers sister) to the fair as well.

Before it snowed, I cleaned out the pool for the ducks. Not only did they enjoy the Drink, but also the bath. It was a great and happy day for them. They aren’t as happy with the snow and block of ice in their pool.

Well, thanks for joining me for some Friday’s Hunts. Thank you to Teresa at Eden Hills for letting us join her again! Have a great weekend.

Oh the guinea pigs

I am really enjoying the guinea pigs. I wasn’t even sure when we originally got Georgia G. Pig years ago that it was something I wanted to do. But in the time since, we have had a lot of fun with them. The other day I realized the babies were just a couple days shy of 3 weeks. That is when it is recommended you wean and separate males from females. Well if you have been following along, you know I suck at sexing baby guinea pigs! So, I did wean them, but how do you separate something you can’t tell apart? I kind of think we night have 3 boars and a sow, but really have no idea.

Since it was time to clean cages and give baths, I did that and then weaned them from Mom.

Skipper, Slade, Saber, and Sinnamon

Took all 4 into the tub, which they love! Racing around and splashing. It was funny and then even funnier when Tux decided he wanted to try playing in the tub.

Sinnamon in the feed bowl.

While they played in the bath, I cleaned out the cage and got it all bedded for them. Then filled up food and cleaned out their water bottle. Guinea pigs don’t require a lot of work, but I do wash the water bottle and feed bowl each time I clean out the cage. Then the 4 babies came back to the big cage for the time being.

Skipper with Slade behind him.

Wet guinea pigs are hilarious. All curly and cute. They decided that they wanted to hide and finish cleaning and grooming themselves.

Squeaker and Gizmo

Meanwhile Mom moved back in with Dad. I would assume this means babies in about 55 days. Sigh. I really need to get at least one more cage.

Friday’s Hunt v2.24, v2.25, v2.26, and v2.27

Well, would you believe I have actually had most of these Friday’s Hunts done on time? Of course then the weekend came and I got busy fixing waters and dealing with the cold spell we are having, preparing for the holidays, actually celebrating the holidays and never got back to my computer to post it!  Then of course, there was a week in there that technical difficulties over took me. My photos wouldn’t upload causing me great stress! I get so frustrated when things don’t just work like they are supposed too! My computer illiteracy really comes through then also! So this is my catch up post! I so love this idea and it makes me think every week. So to begin, we go back to v2.24, we have the prompts the Letter X, Weeks Favorite, and Lights.

Well the Letter X would normally be hard for me. But this week, with the cold streak that we are having, I have so many things I didn’t get Xouted or finished off. Grr! I have gotten some done since the freeze, but not enough. My barn door is frozen open, my horse feeder is frozen to the ground, I had no heaters ready for water, my hoses were left out and I didn’t have my Guinea Pigs brought in yet. Besides getting the water heaters in and hoses to the basement so I have water, I got the Guinea Pigs moved in finally!

20161209_140727 (2).jpg

Someone is not overly thrilled with them. Last year Nala couldn’t hardly stand them moving around and now Wednesday is obviously not going to let them live in peace! At least I am getting a few things Xouted!

My Weeks Favorite is another sunset beyond my barn.

I was freezing that day and just wanted to get in the house and warm up. But it was breathtaking! I don’t think I will ever tire of this view.

As I said it’s been a bit crazy this week. Last week Mom and the kids and I went and got our trees. I got mine up right away and planned to get the lights on and decorated right away. Until…

I put all my Lights on my slightly under 9 foot tree and didn’t make it halfway up. Are you kidding me. So I had to make it to town and get more. That only took 4 days to find the time. I do finally have all the lights done and am hoping to get it decorated tonight!. Who knew adding 4 feet to your tree would require more Lights!

Now on to the next weeks hunt, v2.25 we have the Letter Y, Weeks Favorite and Festive.

For the Letter Y there is Yucky. That is the only word I can use to describe this weather we are having. Although I don’t think it feels that bad when I do my chores, but I don’t mind the cold as long as it goes away in the spring. It’s cold but doable, until next week when the temps are going to get back up in the 30’s!

Turns out my tree turned out pretty Festive and it’s also my Weeks Favorite. I love my tree and decorations. It makes me so happy to sit and look at them.

Of course now we are caught up to this week, v2.26. Our prompts this week are the Letter Z, Weeks Favorite, and Holiday.

My little lady Zulu is of course my Letter Z! She is growing into a lovely lady and I am super excited for her future. I was worried she wasn’t growing very well, but I think she is doing ok. After visiting a friends purebred boer goat herd, I feel like they are maybe a little shorter than I thought. I still love her and that is all that really matters anyway.

My Weeks Favorite is this dink. She is with us most days, even when it’s cold and she is learning all the time. She is always laughing and smiling and brightening our days. Her silliness is infectious. As we went through the Holidays and I got to spend time with my older nieces, who because life happens, don’t have as much time to spend with their old aunt anymore, it truly makes cherish the days I get to spend with her.

My Holiday is pretty much summed up in this picture. Mom’s kitchen, the perfect place to make memories, my family, Sister, Mom and the kids making cookies and laughing together. We haven’t done a cookies and candy day apparently in many years, but I am sure glad we decided to this year. These are the times that will live on forever in their hearts.

Ok, now to our final catch up week, v2.27. Our prompts for this hunt are Starts with Any Letter, Weeks Favorite, and Celebrate.

I am going to use the Letter B. For Broken Barn Farm. I rarely take pictures of the actual Barn. It is old and doesn’t really have much that is pretty about it. Kind of patched together and falling apart(hence the name). But it is the home of most of the animals and where I spend a lot of time. I love this one. It was so quiet that night.

My Weeks Favorite and Celebrate are interchangeable. We did things a little different this year and I personally loved it. We decided to wait until New Years Eve to have our get together for Christmas with Mom. We started at noon with soup, opened kids presents, played games, opened our presents, Fondued, played more games and talked for hours, brought in the New Year together and were home in bed by 12:15. About the best day I have had in a long time.

Sisinlaw brought a cellophane ball for the kids. They loved it and had a good time wrestling their prizes out of it! I just love when they are all together and having fun.

The actual best part of our Celebration was when our family’s long time friends the Fedlers joined us for Fondueing. This might seem like it’s not that big a deal, but when you take into account that every single New Years Eve of our childhood was spent with them and their daughters. Those nights are some of my most treasured memories. They are more like an Aunt and Uncle than friends. Having them join us made it a perfect night for us.

Thank you for joining me for my catching up on more than a couple weeks of Friday’s Hunts! A special thank you to Teresa at Eden Hills for hosting! Stop over and check out the other posts if you get the chance.

Friday’s Hunt v2.15

Welcome back for another version of Friday’s Hunt! The weeks just keep flying past. This week we have the Letter O, Week’s Favorite, and Eyes. So here we go.

Letter O this week is Oops! I love babies as much as anyone, but we seriously DID NOT need more guinea pigs! But lucky for us, Rio and Nygle didn’t care. We now have 4 adorable babies to play with.

Of course, now I have to try to figure out what we are going to do with all of them. I did find home for Nygle and Milo together with a great family. I was pleased they could go together.

Nygle, Milo, and Nico

I think Nico has been spoken for, so now we just have to find a home for 3 babies and Rio and Blue. We have decided to keep a little boy with Gizmo, since that will stop the baby situation and keep a friend for Gizmo.

My Week’s Favorite is from when I was out in the hay field. It was just one of those days that was breathtaking.

That same day, after raking for most of the day, I went to other side of the field. There was a cow out in the hay field. So I stopped raking and went to try to get her in, which didn’t work, so I quit trying to do that and went to figure out what was wrong with the fence. I found the problem, the electric fence was hooked on a cattle panel, probably a deer. Got that fixed and headed back to the truck. This is what I saw.

A whole bunch of Eyes watching me. I think they thought I should have been bringing them something.

Well that is all for this weeks Friday’s Hunt! Stop over at Eden Hills and check out the other Friday’s Hunts. And if you are in the area, the Pumpkin Patch is open today and tomorrow, with lots of fall fun and great food and cool crafts for you enjoyment!

Rio did it again

I have been checking Rio morning and night, because she was huge and I thought she was getting close. Today was the day.

There is extra little butts in there. So I got them out to see what we have.

4 more babies! This has got to stop! We are now up to 10 guinea pigs and I would really like to get down to 1, maybe 2.

As we learned with rabbits, I am terrible at sexing small animals, so we will call them Baby 1-4. Although I think my youngest and Niece#4 have already named them all. This is Baby#1.

Baby#1 again. I think it might be a boy?

I love this one. Baby #2. It’s color is so adorable.

Yeah, might be in love with this face. I think it might also be a boy?

This is baby#3, I think Niece#4 named it Cocoa. It looks exactly like Nygel.

Baby #4 is kind of a daredevil. It kept trying to jump off the table and wouldn’t sit still. I think they maybe about the craziest thing I have ever seen. So fun. Anybody want a guinea pig or 6?

Friday’s Hunt v2.13

Welcome back for another version of Friday’s Hunt, hosted by my dear friend Teresa at Eden Hills. Don’t forget that the Pumpkin Patch is open! For more information or directions please go to Eden Hills Market. It’s really a fun time for young and old alike. Hopefully this rainy weather we have been experiencing will clear up. Back to this weeks prompts, we have the Letter M, Weeks Favorite, Work.

Letter M this time is for Maternity. Again. Yes Rio is pregnant again! I am going to be over run with guinea pigs! I was slow to put the first litter up for sale because, #1 I wanted the kids to play with them because they were cute and fun, and #2 I am terrible at sexing baby guinea pigs. Well, she is going to have more, I would say shortly.

This Week’s Favorite is probably my favorite view in the world. Yup, just the back of my horses head. It means we went riding finally! He was pretty pumped to be out and full of energy. But it, to me is more relaxing than anything else and is definitely my happy place!

My Work this week consisted of this field. Early in the week we had beautiful drying weather and this hay turned out really good. We square baled a little over half of it and got 798 bales. I have to admit, I love raking hay. It’s so beautiful when you are done. I also love square baling. Especially being on the rack. Learning to stack them correctly and being able to do it is something I really enjoy. But I love work that you can see the progress also. You start with a field of hay mowed, by the time you are done, you have a barn full. It’s just beautiful.

Thank you for joining me for another week! I hope you all enjoy your weekend!
